"We’ve been taught a woman’s body will cause men to sin. We’re told that if a woman shows too much of her body men will do stupid things. Let’s be clear: A woman’s body is not dangerous to you. Her body will not cause you harm. It will not make you do stupid things. If you do stupid things, it is because you chose to do stupid things."
let’s ban bossy
because what we always need is more censorship
Oh man Harry I hope this is a joke and sorry if it is but it’s going to bother me if I don’t respond. The campaign is about discouraging the social conditioning girls experience in relation to leadership. It’s dissuading people from using words with negative connotations to reprimand girls who behave in an assertive “masculine” way. Beyoncé and her illuminati pals are not going to bust into classrooms and silence offenders with lasers. The government is not going to suddenly implement a nation wide censor on the word “bossy”.
I mean if your problem is with the word “ban” they obviously don’t mean that literally, they mean “please stop being an ass to young girls”, but they probably needed something with alliteration. It’s not about a law, it’s taking a pledge, a personal decision not to say the word. I really don’t see how you could have interpreted that otherwise. How have you taken something about encouraging girls to be leaders and made it about you being censored? Literally what the hell.
There are less women in leadership positions. This is a very mild campaign, in my opinion, suggesting maybe we shouldn’t contribute to the Pavlovian conditioning that contributes to this. Do you have a better idea about how to deal with a gender based career divide that has existed since the agricultural revolution?
